October 4, 5, and 6th 2007, in the beautiful city of Mobile, Al, members that attended were Rev. Allen Forte, President, Josephine Forte, President of (WIN) Women in the NAACP, Larry Smith, chair, Disaster Relief, Rachel Smith, Chair, Membership, and Rev. Richard Mitchell, Treasurer. The Barbour County Branch was recognized as one of the leading branches in the Alabama. The state election was held, Ed Vaughn was re-elected as Alabama State Conference president, Rev. Allen Forte was elected 2nd vice-president and the executive president of Region 3, the Southern Region consist of 24 counties. A refugee from Darfur was at the convention to tell us about the devastation and deplorable conditions in Sudan. Pictured with the Barbour County Branch is the Darfur refugee along with the state president, Ed Vaughn, Mobile president, Jimmy Gardner. The Alabama State Conference Indian Affairs state chair, Sonya Smith had different tribes to perform at the conference. This was a first for the convention and the state of Alabama. Rev. The conference was well attended and the classes were educational and the speakers were entertaining and captivating. |
