Rev. Allen Forte & Josephine Forte attends the 98th National convention in Detroit, Michigan, Theme: Power beyond Measure. The convention was engaging and informative and very well attended. There were workshops on civic engagement/voter empowerment, legal education seminar & legislative sessions/resolutions, NAACP authors pavilion, WIN empowerment Forum and the Burial of the “N” word and a presidential candidate forum. Speakers were Mayor of Detroit, Kwame M. Kilpatrick, Governor of Michigan, Jennifer M. Granholm, NAACP National Interim President and CEO, Dennis Courtland Hayes, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Julian Bond, Vice Chair, Rosalyn M. Brock, US congressman Honorable John Conyers, Jr., and Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff.
There was also a Town Hall meeting with the President Candidates Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama. It was very educational and gave us a look at our Democratic Candidates |
