January 18, 2010,  2010 Martin Luther King, Jr Day Celebration honoring Alabama’s Black Legislative Caucus, Barbour County Branch attends  this event in Montgomery, Al, sponsored by the Institute for Emerging Leaders, Inc., and the Alabama State Conference of the NAACP. This event brought together many of Alabama’ young and upcoming leaders to honor the achievements on this very special day Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday.M.C was Assistant Attorney General, Madeline Lewis, opening prayer by Rev. Allen Forte.   Greetings from the Honorable Rodger M. Smitherman president ProTem, Alabama State Senate.  Senator Quinton Ross received an award for the up and coming senator.  The speakers, Michael Thurman, Pastor of the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church spoke on “I Have A Dream”  speaking on the” NAACP legacy” was the State Conference president, Bernard Similton.
